Felipe Benjumea Llorente
Born in Seville, Felipe holds a Law Degree from Deusto University, in Bilbao, and expanded his education in Economy at The Economics Institute, University of Colorado Boulder, USA. His career has always been dedicated to renewable energies. In 1985, he joined the Board of Directors of Abengoa, and he took the Presidency in 1991, position that he held until 2015. During those years, the company expanded around the world, turning Abengoa into a reference multinational in the renewable energies industry, with a firm commitment to R&D&I. He joined H2B2 in October 2016 as a strategic advisor, and he was appointed President in November 2018. In parallel with his executive responsibilities, he has also held positions on the Boards of Trustees of many foundations dedicated to promoting arts and education, and he has been a member in different Boards of Directors of important companies in the fields of aviation, telecommunications and finance, among others.
Javier holds a PhD from Pablo de Olavide University, Seville, is a Telecommunications Engineer by the University of Seville, and has completed a PDD (Management Development Program) at the IESE Business School of the University of Navarra. He has been involved in the hydrogen and fuel cell sector since 1998, having led projects, published numerous articles and patented several inventions in this field. He was CEO of Abengoa’s hydrogen and fuel cell companies from 2001 to 2016, the year in which he branched out to establish H2B2. He is vice-chairman of the European Hydrogen Association (EHA), chairman of the Spanish Hydrogen Association (AeH2), vice-chairman of the Spanish Fuel Cell Association (Appice) and secretary to the Spanish Technology Platform on Hydrogen and Fuel Cells (PTE-HPC). He is also associate professor at Loyola University Andalusia.

Accomplished, multi-lingual, and results-oriented executive with strong leadership skills and international background. Proven experience in developing, managing and growing businesses. Instrumental for the successful story of Abengoa Bioenergy a company that grew in 10 years from zero to $2.5 billion in sales. Deep knowledge of the Renewable Energy, Industrial Construction and Information Technology sectors. More than 25 years of experience and almost 20 as an executive holding different positions in Abengoa. Responsible for the successful implementation of more than $1 billion investments in ethanol and energy projects, including project development, permitting, financing, engineering, construction, start up and operations. He holds a MSc in Chemical Engineering, MSc in Environmental Management and Engineering and a MBA.

Africa is an Industrial Engineer with a Master in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency by the University of Zaragoza, and has completed a PDD (Management Development Program) at the IESE Business School of the University of Navarra. She has been working in energy innovation for 20 years, with the last 15 dedicated to hydrogen and fuel cells. She has held positions of responsibility in the fields of technological innovation, corporate strategy and institutional relations at regional, national and international levels. She is director of the hydrogen production by electrolysis working group of the Spanish Technology Platform on Hydrogen and Fuel Cells (PTE-HPC) and is an expert in working groups at European level (FCH JU).
Director of Engineering H2B2
Veronica is an Industrial Engineer by the University of Seville and has completed a PDD (Management Development Program) at Loyola University Andalusia. She has more than 13 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, solar, hydrogen and fuel cells. She was responsible for the launch of the Engineering Department at Abengoa Hidrógeno, covering all disciplines along with the different phases of conceptual, basic and detailed engineering. She has managed the construction of fuel cell cogeneration (CHP) plants, hydrogen production systems by electrolysis, and renewable hydrogen refueling stations.
Bid Manager H2B2
Covadonga holds a degree in Industrial Engineering by the University of Seville, a Diploma in Advanced Studies in control systems by the University of Huelva, and has completed a PDD (Management Development Program) at Loyola University Andalusia. She has almost 15 years of experience in the hydrogen and fuel cell sector. She is responsible for project control, preparation of bids, negotiation of contracts, and technical-economic justification for innovation projects. She is head of the bids department and special projects section at H2B2, with experience in the aerospace and defense sectors.
Work experience in the investment banking sector, based in London, in the risk department of Credit Agricole CIB and Lloyds investment banking, before moving to Debt Capital Markets at BBVA Corporate & Investment banking. Prior to joining H2B2, worked at Management Solutions for the financial commodity risk consulting sector (global/wholesale banking). As for academic background, he graduated from Queen Mary University London with first class degree and majoring in Finance, economics & management before moving on to a Masters degree at London School of Economics (LSE) in finance.
Began working in the Abeinsa (Abengoa) solar plant of Solaben I & VI (Don Benito, Spain) assisting the plant director during the commissioning stage. From there moved to ASA Iberoamerica Structured finance team in Madrid to work and develop financial proformas for solar projects in South America. Moved to London in order to join Natixis Corporate and Investment Bank, in the Global Markets sector, getting a broad experience of the fixed income and equity desks. For academic background he graduated from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, MO with a major in International Business.
